A telephone receiver is moulded with a specially profiled body that enables it to be held against the ear by using the shoulder, thus leaving both hands free. The outer surface of a normal telephone receiver has an additional projection that is flailed (3) in the vicinity of the ear piece and has a curved section (4) that corresponds to the shoulder profile. The bottom section (2) is of substantial width to enable ease of support against the shoulder. Since the moulded projection is on the top surface of the receiver, it may be used with a normal telephone set.
