Dormer window fastener with surround frame - fastener bar has catcher rails recessed to admit catch and guide from frame

Dormer window fastening produces a releasable connection between the casement and fixed frame surround. A fastener bar (6) hinged to the casement has catcher rails on its own leg ends which run along part of the bar length but are recessed (18) at one point to admit a catch (15) fitted to a locking post (8) secured to the frame surround. The post also has a plate guide (17) which can adjust in the space left clear between the legs of the fastener bar and is held inside by the catcher rails. A connector on the post joins the guide to the catch and is dimensioned to pass through between the rails into the interior of the bar. Preferably the catch presents a square plan. The plate should be longer than the entries left for it (18) on the bar (6), and to obtain access the plate should be mounted asymmetrically above the catch on the locking post (8).
