A bioluminescence measuring device comprises a light-sensitive signal emitter and a specimen holder mounted in front of the light inlet opening leading to the emitter; this light inlet is mounted in a wall of a housing and can be obturated by sliding the specimen holder in this housing. An access opening in the housing gives access to the specimen holder only when it is in the correct posn. to block the light inlet.
