Transformer fed single phase rectifier bridge - has single capacitor circuit and between main and quenching thyristors to avoid short circuits via charging thyristors
The unbalanced, transformer fed, single-phase rectifier bridge has two quenching thyristors but a single quenching capacitor circuit. The Off capacitor (9) is connected in series with a choke (12) and this series combination is connected between the juction point of the two main thyristors (3, 4) and the junction point of the two quenching thyristors (5, 6). Two anti-parallel charging thyristors (7, 8) are connected between the two-diode bridge (1, 2) and the quenching thyristors. The transformer (10) connects one of the capacitor electrodes to the diode bridge. The advantage of this configuration lies in avoiding short circuits on the direct current side via the charging thyristors.
