Multi-purpose container, especially a litter container, for motor vehicles consisting of a container body (II) and a loosely connected base plate (i) where, on its rear side, the container body has three flat lugs (1, 2, 3) which form corner points of an equilateral triangle. The flat lugs can be suspended in corresponding flat eyelets (1', 2', 3') of the base plate. Specifically, the base plate (I) in its outer form is equal to an equilateral triangle, with flattened carriers. Guide-or reinforcing struts (4, 5) connect the two top flat eyelets (1', 5') with the bottom flat lug (3'). The container body is so dimensioned that its depth is half its width or height.
