The dielectric aerial is fitted with a feeder waveguide and it has a spherical cap-shaped, sealed-off radiation end whose radiation pattern determines the angles alpha and beta which limit the pyramidal or conical shape of the aerial. The radius (r) of the spherical cap seating the end of the radiator is chosen that an approx. spherical expanding phase front of the waves arises in the event of radiating emission of electromagnetic waves at least in the phase or wavelength constant maximum radiation zone of the distant radiation field. The system is used with microwaves, and the spherical cap at the end of the radiator part of the aerial is made of material transparent to microwaves.
