Two general principles of microwave cooking technique, without detail of practical realization, concerning a cooker in which the cooked object is embedded in a suitable medium, and in which the wavelength used is variable, are presented. Microwave cookers traditionally use a wavelength of 12.3, which for most objects is too short to achieve good penetration. Turning up the applied power merely tends to scorch the outside of the object. It is suggested that a wavelength suited to the size and quality of the object be chosen, using suitable equipment, and also that the oven be effectively reduced in size by embedding the object in material of high dielectric constant.
