The carrying wheels run on the upper surfaces of the rail flanges and are coupled by links (52) from which arms (50) are pivoted, carrying a transverse shaft (48). The cabin is suspended from the centre of this shaft, while a frame, on which the traction motor and driving wheel bearings are mounted, is carried freely on its outer ends. The geometry is such that the centreline through the pivots of the swinging arms (50) is displaced from the vertical by the contact of the driving wheel with the underside of the rail. Contact pressure is maintained by extensions (68) from the swinging arms which exert an upward force on the end of the frame through springs (83), a force which is dependent on the suspended weight.
