The coupling mechanism is used for coupling two coaxial cylinder cores with key projections. Between these cylinder cores rotates the hub of the lock and it has two coupling pieces. Each of these pieces can move axially and coupled to the key. This lock is designed so that even if a key is already inserted on one side the other side can be actuated by another key. The coupling piece (19a) with circular cross section is opened towards the associated cylinder core (6a) whose inner cylindrical surface acts as guide for the corresponding plunger (18a). A sleeve (22) is connected to this coupling piece and a compression spring is fitted between the free end of the sleeve and the plunger of the other coupling piece. Its spring constant is lower than that of the inserting springs (20a) fitted between the coupling pieces and the plungers.
