The coupling unit (5), used in the assembly of rigging, has joint openings for the attachment of connecting-bars to multi-part rigging supports, set close together, each of which has several bars, and can be set between two part components of such a support, with the joint openings lying inside the cross-sectional surface defined by the support's bars. The joint openings (8, 9) are arranged in such a way that the connecting lines of a pair of diametrically opposite openings cut the longitudinal axis of the rigging support to which they have been allotted. The coupling unit may comprise a horizontally set plate (6) and joint shackles (11, 12) at right angles to this.
