The speed control, for reluctance motor, has an inductor in series with the d.c. supply and a controlled switch consisting of antiparallel thyristors is connected between the inductor and an LC circuit. The LC circuit consists of a series capacitor bridged by a thyristor in series with a second inductor. The motor windings are switched in between the d.c. supply and the LC circuit. When switched in each winding is bridged by another thyristor. The control allows the motor to be driven with large torques at all speeds and thereby gives a whole system a higher efficiency.
