The bearing is for use in precision machines such as weighers, governors etc, the blade being accommodated in a holder on a mounting plate. The blade is of thin high-tensile sheet steel, and is fitted to and fro about its initially sharp edges, until these are rounded off, under load. The process is simply and rapidly completed, and needs less precision work than methods hitherto used, althrough the ultimate accuracy is unaffected. The working backwards and forwards work hardens the tip to produce a tougher bearing surface. The blade holder provides support for most of the blade height, and is received by through screws.
