Adjustable rectangular bobbin spindle - having a sliding cam bar to act on angled surfaces to position the profiled sections

An adjustable spindle, for supporting bobbins, has a rectangular cross-section through their central sleeve mountings, using opposing L-shaped bars which are variably displaced according to the bobbin dimensions, with opposing pairs of angled profiled sections and a longitudinally sliding cam bar with edge-shaped chamfered cam surfaces to act on cam plates attached to U-profiled bars. To separate the opposing angled profiled sections, in changing the dimensions of the rectangular cross-section, the U-profiled bars carry cam plates on their outer surfaces to range into recesses in the angled profiled sections as the bar is moved along. The design gives a spindle which can be adjusted through a wide range in planes at right angles to each other, giving stability when expanded to the maximum dimension range.
