The window frame is built up of profiles with keying channels. The metal profiles in the diagram have ribs with inwards turned edges which act as keying elements. These profiles are connected by an insulating profile which has edges with sloping ribs. The combined insulating and locking member is pushed by its edge into the locking channel of the frame profile. The flexible sloping ribs pass through the narrow part of the groove and expand subsequently so that they cannot be pulled out. On the edge of the combined locking profile is held a flexible rubber profile which acts as a spring element and forces the locking ribs into the channel locking rib corners and ensures firm grip. The combined locking and insulating profile can be made from a relatively inelastic material such as polypropylene or hard PVC.
