Hydraulic extension stop shock absorber mounting - uses volute spring as circlip holding seal and guide unit in place

The stop is particularly for use with single-tube shock-absorbers, where the combined guide and seal unit has the stop plate held clear of it by a volute spring. The volute spring also acts as the circlip holding the unit in place, and has two or more cranked sections in it. At one end it engages in a bush mounted centrally in the stop plate, and this bush is higher than the spring when compressed. The design combines simplicity of construction with a safe and fully protected mounting for the spring and constant limitation of axial movement of spring and plate.
