Rocket motor - with star-shaped division between quick and slow burning propellants

As the quick-burning propellant in the centre is ignited it builds up a flame front which conforms to the internal shape of the star-shaped division, until it overcomes it and ignites the slow-burning propellant which continues the star-shaped flame front pattern, assisted by the external corrugations of the outer propellant which match the arms of the star formed by the division. The purpose is to provide a controlled burning and flame pattern to maintain the required gas stream for acceleration and propulsion under controlled conditions.
