A dirt collector for incorporation into a pipeline for liquids or gases contains a sieve; the differential pressure in the fluid across this sieve causes movement of a component which is biased against the differential pressure by a spring; the movement of the component under differential pressure is transmitted to a transmitter device which regulates a measuring or switching device, situated outside the flow path and chamber. As an alternative to a helical biasing spring, a metal bellows may be used. This arrangement gives a sensitive measurement of the pressure difference and therefore of the degre of clogging fo the filter.
