Aggregate for ceramic raw matls. or plastic clays consists of a ground, intimate mixt. of clay and organic C-contg. matl. (I), in dry wt. ratio 10:1 to 1:2, dried at 200-500 degrees C, and is pref. added in amts. of 3-40 wt.%/dry wt. ceramic or clay. Prod. is used for pottery. Firing time is reduced; and tunnel kilns, retort furnaces and esp. enamelling kilns may be used without danger of cracking.
