Mechanically operated switch such as ignition cut out switch with a contact system modulated in a solid housing. The movable contact is actuated via a bolt through the housing wall. The passage through the wall has a gas tight seal. The bolt passes through a membrane which is sealed to the bolt and to the housing. The housing is made from an insulating material and the membrane is made from a metal. It could be in the form of a corrugated metal disc or U or V-shaped. The buckling effect of the membrane insures a positive make or break of the contacts. The actuator bolt also operates a coild spring.
