Device for turning off brake shoes and brake linings of brake installations incorporated in vehicles, in which in order to connect a bearer tube firmly to the vehicle axle journal a socket is rotatable, connected firmly to a double arm of which the one arm acts as working arm with an adjustable and lockable flange and carries the tool holder and turning tool. The other arm acts in a counter-weight capacity, whereby the advance feed for the turning tool lengthways movement comprises a central threaded spindle attached to the bearer tube. On this spindle a nut on the rotating socket engages. The hollow threaded spindle is located on a mandrel projecting from the bearer tube, and is connectable to an additional drive via a gear fitted on the mandrel.
