The shaft furnace for firing and sintering of magnesite, dolomite, etc., has a delivery table with a radially extending ram which rotates and delivers the mineral, and a central cone which has holes for the air blast and teeth for breaking up lumps of the mineral. Below the exit from the shaft and above the delivery ram there is a disc with diameter smaller than that of the shaft, which has cams and holes and which breaks up that portion of the mineral between the edge of the cone and the shaft walls.
