Spoked wheel assembly machine - has rim held rigidly by frame whilst spokes tensioned to preset torque by radial tool

A lower cylindrical frame (A), of dia. less than that of the wheel rim (r) is fixed to a base (2). The frame has a number of equally spaced slots (4) corresp. to the spoke nipples (n). The upper cylindrical section (B) has three symmetrically spaced struts (15) supporting a hydraulic cylinder which presses down the rim clamp (20) to keep the rim in a perfect circle. An assembly table (3) surrounds the lower frame below the spaced slots and carries a number of hydraulic cylinders (30) corresp. to the slots and able to move radially. The spoke nipples are tightened by a tool (47) turned by a shaft passing through the support cylinder (37) and powered by its own electric motor (52) which automatically stops at a preset torque load.
