The VHF radio receiver has the received signals converted by a series of parallel frequency converters (2-5) into IF signals. Each IF signal is filtered and amplified (11) to a given level and then reconverted in second frequency converters (12) back into that IF channel original input signal. (Signal filtering and amplification is easier at IF frequencies). All the output signals from the second converters are then combined to give an amplifier version of the original received signal. This arrangement allows stations close to other unwanted stations to be picked up clearly. The same oscillator (6) is used for both conversions.
