The anchoring of a screw or bolt in a wooden, tar oil-impregnated railway sleeper is improved by introducing a synthetic diisocyanate resin into the screw or bolt hole before the screw is applied. ADVANTAGES A firm bonding of screw to resin to wood is achieved. At the same time, a highly water-resistant zone is formed about the screw and adjacent wood so that the rate of corrosion of the screw is considerably reduced.
