Simple mechanism to release camera shutter - ignites flash bulb for behind or between lens shutter and impact ignited bulb

The mechanism is designed to avoid any need for pretensioning or setting up in preparation for shutter release. Thus the operating spring (5) is not tensioned until the shutter release lever (3) begins its movement, and the parts reset themselves automatically, under the action of return springs (7, 12, 13; and 3b against 8d). In operation, the release lever (3) first tensions the spring (5) which stretches between it and the operating staff (8), which latter is meanwhile held by a latch (6). The release lever, moving on, slips the latch, projecting the staff (8), so that it flicks the lamella (2) to uncover the diaphragm aperture (1), then, in due synchronism, ignites the flash bulb (striker 10). The parts reset themselves automatically. In a second version, the operating staff (8) is made in two separate pieces, one of which rests, under spring tension, against the flash-bulb striker (10). When the bulb is fired, the striker is displaced and the spring brings a flag into view in the viewfinder, where it remains until a fresh bulb is in position.
