The electronic switch, for electrical installations, has a proximity switch consisting of a touch plate connected over a high resistance to the base of a control transistor. The control transistor controls a flip-flop whose limited, smoothed and rectified output is used to operate a triac switch via a diac. The triac acts as load switch in the electrical installation's circuitry. The control transistor drives the flip-flop on and off, and the latter's high-ohmic output allos a firing capacitor to be connected in parallel on its output side without significantly affecting the triac's firing angle.
