Mounting wall has a frame to which are releasably attached at least one side a perpendicular wainscotting board and a freely-projecting horizontal shelf, the board is plugged onto inclined holders such that it is pressed against the frame by gravity. The shelf abuts only the upper edge of the board, projects rearward above it in the region of the frame, and there is supported upwardly on height-adjustable abutment(s). Preferably the abutment is a height-adjustable screw which is on a shackle of the frame over the rearward, projecting end of the shelf. The components are held securely without play in the frame, into which they are easily positioned, so that no inadvertent release can occur.
