The atmos in mills for grinding e.g. plastics or foodstuffs is ionised by electrodes, radioactive materials or by applying a charge to the milling elements themselves. This permits any static charge which forms on non-conducting materials to leak away and reduces the milling time by preventing repulsive forces forming between fine particles.
