The mechanised cheese making appts. includes a stacker for contoured moulds which are filled with cheese. A further device lifts and stacked moulds into a station for transportation along an elevated guide rail. Stationary stack lifters are used in the system and a mobile suspension carriage moves along the guide rail. Each stack is subsequently lowered into another station for removal from the carriage for further processing in a salt bath. Centering devices aling the suspension carriage relative to the stack lifters. Draining and whey removing operations are carried out in the system which incudes stack inverting stations. Mfr. is rapid in a rationalised system, the elevated rail leaving sufficient space underneath for the operations.
