In a screw extruder with a screw feeder constructed as a tube on the inside and/or on the outside of which ribs are provided for transporting the material between the tube and the outer cylinder and/or between the tube and the inner cylinder of the extruder, the inner cylinder is made hollow pref. having a longitudinal bore and forms an entry to the inside of the tube or tubular semi-finished product fabricated by the extruder. Enables cooling and/or support air to be admitted to the tube or tubular semifinished produced without causing division in the flowing melt due, to feed channels, in the mandrel holder or ribs.
