Deep hole drill swarf remover - has timing device to actuate cam controlled drill withdrawing system

The automatic system has a timer which, together with a cam assembly is used to withdraw the drill from the hole at required intervals for swarf disposal. Each successive drilling stage is automatically shortened which is beneficial in deep hole drilling. A guide bar carries a first cam which is displaced by the amount of given drilling distance. The timing clock is started by a limit switch which is actuated by another cam when the drill enters the workpiece. The drill slide reverses after a specified time. When the drilling is completed then the slide returns to the starting position and the first cam is pushed against a stop.
