The shaft is supported in the bore of a bearing fitting in a slot in a bedplate. The slot is wider than the bearing bore diameter and the bearing has guide grooves at right angles to the bore axis, so that on insertion in the slot it fits round the edge of the bedplate on both sides. The bearing body can be of square section, with a catch extending from it parallel to the grooves, and engaging in an opening in the bedplate. There can be two spring fork prongs formed on the bedplate, engaging in the grooves in the bearing plate, their width being equal to or less than the groove width.
