The delay line is charged through a choke or a choke in series with a diode or a charging switch, and is discharged through a load in series with a discharge switch; one load terminal is directly connected to one d.c. voltage source terminal, and a diode is between the load and the voltage source other terminals, so that it is blocked when the discharge switch is open. A saturated choke is inserted as a further element into the series circuit consisting of the delay line, discharge switch and load. The load is connected through a transformer, and/or a transformer is in parallel with the load.
