At the receiver additional pulses are separated and the bit repetition frequency restored. A number of pulse trains with the same pulse repetition frequency is generated at the sender, with each following pulse train lagging by e.g. half a bit width. The pulse trains are scanned once per bit in the order of decreasing ordinal numbers by a sender clock frequency corresponding to the increased bit repetition frequency. After last scanning of the lowest order pulse train at least one additional pulse is scanned and the scanning is repeated; transmission pulse train is formed from the scanning samples. Further pulse trains with the same pulse repetition frequency are generated at the receiver, each lagging by half a bit duration, and scanned in reverse order.
