Multi-section guide-rolls for continuous casting plant - with bearings mounted on stub-axles which screw into roll-sections

A multi-section guide roll supported by multiple bearings, for continuous casting plants, has a locking or clamping arrangement for the bearings between adjacent roll-sections. The assembly of roll sections and bearings pref. provides a coolant channel, each end of the roll-sections having a hole into which a threaded section of a stub-axle on both sides of the bearing can be screwed, both parts being provided with matching shoulders, the coolant channel running along the axis of the parts. The bearings are pref. provided with external cooling. Used for casting wide billets at high speed. The entire guide-roll rotates even if one section is not in contact with the billet and effective cooling of both the roll-sections and the bearings is assured.
