Ice breaker with extra cutting tool - is boom pivoted ahead of bows on special hydraulically powered arms

A boom extends over the front of the ice braker bows with the boom pivotted about three orthogonal axes, to move in all directions. The end the boom supports a pendant cutting edge while hydraulic servo cylinders are spaced along the boom. The cutting edge is used chop stubborn ice floes before the bows grinds them small. The attachment improves the versatility of the icebreaker. The boom provides a concentrated pressure zone, with the breaking teeth carried under a curved plane surface. This surface can be driven to rotate about a vertical axis at the end of the boom.
