The head is for monitoring the flow of fluid or gas in a pipe, and has a housing (1) with first inlet and outlet pipes (8, 13) connected by an internal passage. A second passage connect the latter to a slide valve, and third and fourth passages connect second inlet and outlet pipes (9, 15) to this valve. The valve has a component rotating between first and second control positions. In the first of these the second and fourth passages are connected via an opening in the valve body, and in the second of them the third and fourth passages are connected. The valve can be of the rotating-ball type, and parts of the second and fourth passages can run at right angles to each other, so that the valve must be rotated through 90 deg.
