The pillow is made resilient in a horseshoe shape and is filled with foam and/or air. It is provided in a radial direction with non-compressible air holes (2) to allow the person to breathe whilst lying prone with the head face downwards on the pillow so that the neck lies in the opening. The pillow can be provided with a stiff or semi-rigid support (11) which is the same shape as the pillow but can if required be supplied with the air holes instead of these in the pillow since the air holes (15) should be fairly rigid tubes which could cause discomfort. This pillow is particularly suitable for use in hospitals where patients after certain operations must lie prone and is also suitable in the home where ladies with elaborate hair styles wish to sleep without disturbing their hair.
