Furnace for continuous and discontinuous heating of metallic and ceramic charges to their processing temp. (forging, rolling, pressing), the lower part of the furnace consisting of a bath contg. a suitable melt and outside the furnace are melting and holding furnaces which can be moved vertically or tilt for supplying the bath with the molten material. Additional heating chambers may be located parallel to the hearth for local increase in the supply of heating energy to the me the bath may have a profiled cross-section i.e. with deep and shalow sones to match the profile of the charge being heated. The melt may consist of metals, minerals or other cpds. with suitable chemical and physical properties. Optimum heat transfer leads to smaller furnaces, lower energy consumption, reduced investment- and operating- costs. The parts being heated are not subjected to friction.
