The extruded pliable alumium waveguide has its internal cross section symmetrical about its shorter and longer axes, but with its wall thickness thinner at the centres of its broader faces i.e. at the ends of the shoter cross-sectional axis. The cross section may be elliptical or rectangular or somewhere between the two. This thin region of wall thickness may bow inwards into the waveguide cavity to a greater or less extent, e.g. it may bow sufficiently for the waveguide section to resemble a dumbell. The waveguide can be bent without significantly altering its electrical properties, i.e. without forming detrimental 'corners'.
