Carding drum assembly in which the carding drum is provided with carding pins and disposed in an opening of a housing to define a fibre feeding gap which is annular and co-axial wrt. the axis of a spinning cup has the configuration of the annular gap varied at least along a portion of its length by varying at least one of the generatrices associated with the drum periphery, periphery of the pin set and the housing opening. Feeding fibres to open-end spinning cups. Feeding of fibres is controlled in a manner which prevents fibre dispersion.
