The windings (10, 11) are continuously wound on coil formers (5) which form one measuring frame. Gaps between coil formers are bridged by electric connections (38, 39). Coil formers (5) are firmly assembled together. Coil formers belonging to one frame form a compact plastic element, with the formers interconnected by flexible bridges. Machine for the transformer winding has rotating stores for wound coils on both sides of the winding area. The formers can advantageously be designed so that they can interlock e.g. by projections and corresponding hollows or grooves at their ends. The supporting frame can be formed, e.g. rectangular, hexagonally, to tightly embrace the total number of formers.
