The communications system for the transmission and reproduction of currently produced hand drawn signs and sketches, is intended to be used in conjunction with a telephone system to illustrate conversations. At each terminal is a CRT controlled via magnetic deflection coils by suitable electronic control units which convert voltage inputs to the appropriate form to drive the CRT deflection coils both at a local tube and at all the remote tubes via a transmission and switching system. The input to each electronic unit is taken from a conducting pen which is used to sketch on the specially prepared face of the CRT. The face of the tube is covered with a thin conducting transparent layer which is excited by coordinate electrode pairs at the sides and at the top and bottom of the CRT screen.
