Gripper bobbin brake - formed by disc interposed between casing base and bobbin and provided with axial pin arresting bobbin when thread feed stops

Gripper bobbin brake is formed by a disc which is interposed between the gripper thread bobbin and the base of a gripper casing which is provided with a recess in which is located a pin forming part of the brake and attached to the disc. When thread is fed, its tension forces the pin into the recess against a cam face and when the feed is stopped the bobbin by its inertia displaces the disc angularly and the pin brakes the bobbin. Used for double lock stitch gripper. Thread shagging or breaking is prevented, whilst the bobbin is arrested immediately thread feed stops without the use of complex braking moment adjusting means.
