Guiding the burners in the mfr. of pipes by welding - using guide-groove within the melted zone of the weld

Device for automatically guiding the welding heads or burners in pipe welding plant uses a sensing head or probe. A guide-groove or -notch is located parallel to the edge of the strip and within the region of the molten zone of the weld, the groove being used for the probes. The device ensures the accurate location of the weld w.r.t. the gap, e.g. in the spiral welding of tube or pipe. The groove is inexpensive to produce.
