An absorption cooling system operating by means of an ineert auxiliary gas, particularly for use in domestic refrigerators, and having a thermosyphonic pump connecting the self levelling collector and ejection unit is constructed such that the ejection vessel (14) has a horizontal surface area in the region of the lowest end section of the fluid level controlling pump tube (16), which when multiplied by the the height difference (h) between the normal fluid level and the fluid level which is just below the level of the pump tube (16) gives a volume at least as large as, pref. larger than, that of the fluid in the section bounded by the lower end of the pump tube (16) and the level of the fluid in the collector unit (12).
