The tool changing device is for a forging press having a press frame, press plunger and pivoted sliding plate to take up at least two pressing tools. A sliding table on the press frame takes up at least two counter die tools and has at least one of the tools mounted on the pivoted sliding plate constructed from an upsetting ring and a mandrel. The upsetting ring can be moved axially relative to the mandrel and the relative moveability of these components can be compensated for by means of controlled devices.
