Self-deicing cooling installation for a cooler vehicle - with automatically controlled reversal and protection against overload at the start of the reverse cycle

The self-contained installation in a cooler vehicle with a cooler drive rated for normal load when cooling must be protected at start-up of the reverse cycle for deicing of the evaporator, against overloading due to congestion of the compressor by the cooling medium collected in the condenser. A reverse-flow preventer is provided between the compressor and the condenser, which is open during cooling operation but is closed at least at the start of the deicing operation, being bridged across by a starting regulator. The reverse-flow preventer and the starting regulator may form one component. The reverse-flow preventer may be a non-return valve or may be a solenoid valve controlled by a controller so that at the start of deicing it is closed for an adjustable period of time but is otherwise open.
