Light-transmitting printer - bears image pattern for transfer with light-transmitting, scratch-resistant, chemical-resistant coating

Light-transmitting printer (4) for use in a photoprinting process, in which an image pattern on the printer covered by a transparent plastics layer is transferred by exposure to a photo-sensitive coating of a semi-finished product, is covered by a protective film (2) consisting of at least two layers (21, 22). The inner layer (21) adheres well to the printer surface and pref. consists of a themoplastic material which is directly bonded to the image pattern layer on application of heat and pressure, e.g. polyethylene. The outer layer (22) is highly scratch-resistant and solvent-resistant, and pref. consists of polyterephthalic acid ester. The printer may be coated with the protective film on both upper and lower surfaces.
