The purpose is to provide a cladding, esp. for fireplace chimneys made of cast concrete, to prevent any penetration of rainwater through joints between the chimney and the roof. It comprises one or more boxes (1, 4, 5) formed in one piece, and made of etenite, sheet metal or other material, which enclose the chimney. The boxes may be monochrome or multi-coloured, or faced with clinker brick. The joint (a) between any pair of boxes may be formed so as to slope away from inside to outside. There may be an insulating layer (7), of stone wool or similar material, between the boxes and the chimney (6), and a frame shaped covering (2) overlapping the open edge of the top box.
